In recent years, companies in the hospitality industry have increasingly embraced predictive analytics to enhance their ability to anticipate and cater to customer preferences and needs.

One notable example from 2013-14 is the US economy-hotel chain Red Roof Inn, which utilized publicly available weather and flight data to forecast potential flight cancellations for its customers. Based on the insights gained from this predictive analysis, Red Roof Inn initiated a targeted marketing campaign aimed at individuals using mobile devices in regions most likely to be affected by adverse weather conditions.
